Después de la primera carrera en Catar, la victoria de Lorenzo y el doblete de Yamaha, el equipo ya está listo para afrontar el segundo Gran Premio: El circuito de Las Americas (Austin).

Por parte del equipo Repsol Honda, en la pretemporada se mostraron muy fuertes en Austin. El principal, Marc Màrquez. El piloto novato de la categoría reina demostró ser muy agresivo en este circuito dominando los tres y únicos tests.
